Two ways to find the same place.
A guide sees the painted plate. A scent-following traveler finds the cup below it. A dragon may notice both and still choose another place to land.
Autumn brings dragons through the valleys, and Avice Sennett is out checking the routes before they arrive. Her map doesn't tell her everything.
Avice is a surveyor. She can measure a crossing, but the keeper who works there knows what the river did this morning. Avice has to make room for that in her report.
Not every traveler can read a sign, either. Some of the smaller creatures follow scent, and a dragon decides for herself where to land.
